I got this comment posted to my article about "being genuine" and Bruce Barton. The thing I don't like about this comment is that its from someone who didn't have the you-know-whats to put his name or a link to his own blog.
Here's his comment:
"What would be more genuine than doing research before you write an article? Bruce Barton may have done a lot of great things, but he never invented Betty Crocker. Read Finding Betty Crocker or ask General Mills yourself. But do your homework. Bruce Barton would."
OK, I'll play along...
Bruce Barton founded the ad agency BBDO, which created the Betty Crocker concept. You can do a Google search yourself or click here for a nice summary.
I'm not sure what this person means by "ask General Mills yourself", but tomorrow at breakfast I'll throw out the question to my box of Cheerios and see if it provides an answer.
Normally I'd just overlook a stupid comment like this, but I've found that if you don't call someone like this out - and point out that they are WRONG - they'll just keep doing it.
So quit trying to channel Bruce Barton, enjoy the blog, and if you leave another comment do everyone a favor and put on your big boy panties and leave your real name, and a link back to something we can all read that will show us all how brilliant you are.
Can you tell I've had a long day?...
