The lesson is this:
Finding success in your career, in business, and in life, does not necessarily bring happiness. You can read about in the Bible, or you can read about it in the New York Times. The examples are everywhere.
Success does not bring satisfaction. Wealth is not the secret to happiness.
So what's it all about? Why do we...
...do what we do?Personally, I think its about the process of learning from your successes and mistakes, sharing success with others, being a generous person, and having a life purpose that involves something bigger than you. For me, it would be my relationship with God and my family. For you, it could be something different. Or it may be the money and the success. Everyone has to figure that out on their own, I suppose.
When I heard about Ledger's death, it was sad. I liked his performance in "A Knight's Tale" and thought he was a good actor.
But in the end, its another reminder to those of us still moving through life that we need to be careful not to let our job, our career, or our striving for success to be the end-all-be-all of why we do what we do.

Heath Ledger was not a notorious success chaser. In fact, he was a pretty private person who just so happened to have been very talented. I don't think he overfocused on his career, necessarily. He was apparently very committed to his family, which reportedly was undergoing some problems. But hey, way to inject your religio-political viewpoint into someone's untimely death.
