I expressed my remorse over the death of actor Heath Ledger earlier today, along with a comment that we should all remember that career and success doesn't always guarantee happiness.
That prompted one outlandish reaction, followed by another (both annonymous):
"You know, it's PATHETIC that the poor guy has only been dead for about probably 6 or 7 hours and you are posting LIES.It's people like you that...
...do hurt and damage to other people by posting your stupid opinions and not the facts. This is being said by the POLICE that it was simply an accident. How sad that you have to start such NASTY rumors.Get a life."
I'm not sure what LIES she is referring to, but she's obviously upset about Ledger's death. And I agree with her that I need to get a life...but that's another story altogether.
But what I don't understand about this comment, or the other, is the outrage. And the willingness to attack an opinion, especially one that expressed sadness over the young actor's death.
But there have been other reactions, as well. A little more introspective (and, whatta ya know...they signed their names!) and thought provoking, like in this comment from Keshi:
"Maybe in Heath's case, it's not to do with Career or Success. Cos he wasn't chasing money like some actors do. Maybe Heath was a bit lonely and that's sad. Didn't he die alone after all?"
It is very sad indeed.

I don't know what that commenter was talking about Dan. As I was reading it I kept scrolling back up to your article and asking myself, "What lies?" Perhaps whoever it was thought (like the commenter before him/her) that you made some mention of Heath Ledgers death being suicide, but I saw no such reference.
When I read the news, I too was very sad to see the young father and talented actor go. And I agree with your sentiment about the importance of finding purpose for our lives. I believe that Ledger's prime was yet to be reached, and he will be missed by his family and remembered for his work. At least he had a chance to leave a positive legacy, all are not so lucky.
