Don't think it pays to have good selling skills? Whether you're a car salesman, a business owner, or the President of the United States, sales is an essential skill.
Does Bush have what it takes to "make the sale"? Here's the sales call he's headed out on right now:
Bush proclaimed in his second inaugural address that the U.S. would
work for democratic reform in every nation and culture "with the ultimate goal of ending tyranny in our world."
Now, in the final months of his presidency, he is off to sell democratic ideals to wary Middle Eastern leaders who have turned their focus to who will succeed Bush and how political turmoil will play out in Pakistan.
Talk about a tough customer!
When you think about it, Presidents have to have incredible sales skills to push through their agendas here at home, as well as "sell" the interests of the U.S. abroad. It's a skill that they never get enough credit for. It would be interesting to do a study of the sales effectiveness of Presidents throughout history.
Can this President close the deal?
