ReferNow.com Gets New Customers for Business Owners

We've all heard that referrals are the best way to find new customers. ReferNow.com is a web based customer reward program, designed to motivate and reward a business' customers for referring friends and colleagues back to the business.  There are a few other concepts similar to this out there for business owners and sales professionals, but ReferNow.com takes it to another level, in my opinion. 

ReferNow.com is targeting business owners to participate in the program and a free survey, which is a great way for someone to get a taste for their service and how it can help them attract more business.  There is also a helpful demo on their website that makes it easy to understand for someone new to the idea of referral marketing, and why this service works.

How important is referral business?  A recent study by eMarketer.com showed that more than half (53%) of Internet users and visited websites referred by friends or family members in the previous 30 days.  When it comes to lead generation and new paying customers, referrals are key.  Speaking of that, ReferNow.com has some great testimonials from clients who use them, and like the results they are seeing.

The two things I really like about the concept:

  • It's a low monthly price, with no long term contract.  It's just $19.95 a month, so it almost would be crazy not to try it for a month or two to see if you see results.  If that weren't enough, they also offer a free 30 day trial just to get you started. 
  • The fact that they are sending offers to you for you then to refer to a friend using their own e-mail (and not some system generated e-mail) is really effective, in my opinion.  I would have second thoughts of entering my friend's or co-workers e-mail address into a system that I didn't know or trust.  But with this, the power is in their hands...they have the power to either send on the referral e-mails, or not.  When they do, it's coming from a trusted e-mail address, which means it will probably get read and get opened by the person they are referring.  Smart way to do it!

After researching how they attack the tricky referral market business, I'll put my money where my mouth is: I'm going to sign-up to have them work with one of my business consulting companies, because I think the way they are approaching this model is smart, effective and naturally viral.

As a sales professional or business person, ask yourself this question: Do you really know where your new customers and new business comes from?  And even more importantly, how do you reward someone who has referred a new customer to you?  Most sales professionals don't take the time to do it, and neither do business owners.
