How expensive?

For an MP3 player.  Sure, its encrusted with jewels, but still...20 grand for a freaking MP3 player????

It's available through Amazon.com, which just recorded their best Christmas sales season ever, averaging 46 online sales every second.  mp3 player

Here's what it includes:

  • World's most expensive MP3 player is cast in 750 gold (18 karat) with 63 diamonds (one-karat)
  • Large, 1 GB memory holds loads of tunes (MP3, WMA, WAV, ASF, and OGG formats)
  • Two-color OLED screen displays ID3 tags, FM radio station info, and equalizer visualization
  • Designed with two headphone jacks for sharing music with a friend
  • Measures 2.95 x 1.26 x 0.63 inches (WxHxD)

So basically, you're buying some really expensive jewelry with a MP3 player attached to it.

Two points I want to make here to any sales professional reading this:

  • Someone bought this MP3 player on Amazon.  SOMEONE BOUGHT ONE.  The lesson here is that there's a customer for every business.  You just have to find them.
  • Is there a common item or service that you can dress-up and make extraordinary?  It will certainly give you more buzz for you and your company, and you never know...you just might sell one!  Noka chocolate is doing it with candy.  People are selling $20k MP3 players.  What can you do to your product or service to make it "blog-worthy"?
