That's what I'd be if I had been the one to come up with TMX Elmo.
Or, "Tickle Me Elmo Extreme".
Not familiar with this huge craze that you'll be hearing about from now until December 26th? Click here. Church of the Customer has a great rundown on the whole thing, along with a video that's worth the three minutes it takes to view it.
Here are my thoughts on the whole thing as it relates to sales:
- You don't need complicated, ground-breaking ideas to make a lot of money or sell a lot of product. A red fuzzy laughing Sesame Street character is going to rake in millions for Fisher Price this Christmas.
- The viral buzz on the product is part of its attraction. Is your product or service being talked about outside of your sales presentations and promotion? Why not?
- People love to buy, as Jeffrey Gitomer says. But they hate to be sold. We're not being "forced" to buy TMX Elmo. But something tells me that we'd love to do it if we had the chance (I take that back...if my 7 year old daughter sees TMX Elmo on TV, I will indeed be forced to buy it...)
