Following my post on the sinister rebate industry, I received a response from a representative of the sinister rebate industry. Since this is a family blog, I took the liberty of censoring some of the many colorful swear words that the rebate representative peppered his comments with. However, I left all of the creative spelling and grammar intact as it appeared in the comments section of my original post.
So, here we go...meet Jaime Brask, Sinister Rebate Industry Representative:
you guys are morons. I work at a call centre where we process rebates and we pay out A LOT of rebates....i see more rebates get paid out then not. Its just a snowball effect of somne people with bad experiences talking about s***. Why dont all the people who got thier money start posting s*** and then well see where the cookie crumbles BIATCH! And also, if youre just gunna bitch about not getting them, then why do you go through all the work of filling it out. Its hypocritical pieces of s*** like you that f*** up the whole process and make it s****y for everyone.
P.S Eat some s*** you a**hole and bite the furriest part of my ***** you ***** ****** bag of excrement!PEACE
After a few moments of reflection, Jaime added this zinger:
me again, forgot some s*** or some s*** like that
READ THE SMALL PRINT F***ERS! stop bitching about timeframes and s*** because thats just how these mother***** work....the rbate claim form is a legally binding document and it does give a timeframe
Thanks, Jaime. You've done for the rebate industry what Tanya Harding did for figure skating.
The beautiful thing about this post is that it requires no response. It speaks for itself. But just for good measure, our friend Sean Woodruff puts a nice little finishing touch on the whole conversation:
Well, I guess the last two comments pretty much sum up the problems with rebates. :-)
That rant is even more cause to not base a buying decision on a rebate. Moreover, why does rebate processing need a call center? Make the form simple, receive the form, send the money. No calling required.
The MATURITY level of the entire tactic leaves a lot to be desired.
Rebates! What a great way to sell stuff!

Dan,
Keep up the fight on this one since you are on to something. Check out Dell's latest decision to end the rebate game:
