About ten years ago, I made a choice to leave a big, international sales company to start a business.
I had an OK office. A decent salary. Some room for "advancement".
Had I sat down and analyzed the pros and cons, turned-out a few spreadsheets with projections, and some kind of risk analysis, I would still be sitting in my OK office with my decent salary and looking for my next advancement.
Instead, I took a risk. And its been a difficult, wonderful, horrible, rewarding ride. And its far from over.
Read Seth Godin's post today about analysis vs. intuition. It'll make you think.
Here's my question for the sales professional who is ending their week reading this at their OK office with their decent salary on the way to their next advancement...maybe (if so-and-so would only retire!):
Have you ever thought about starting your own business? Have you considered the entrepreneurial life? I say to you, do it. Go ahead...go for it. What have you got to lose? Quit analyzing so much, and go with your gut...your intuition.
Go for it.

And if you end up on the street, Dan will let you sleep in his garage.
Just Kidding - I left Ernst and Young to take the risk. It was 10 times harder than I expected and 10 time more rewarding.
