
For all the promotion...for all the hoopla...for all the millions upon millions of dollars spent on promotion, the World Cup is falling flat with U.S. audiences.
How flat?
Only 6% of the United States is following the tournament "very closely". If you're in advertising, those numbers aren't very attractive. True, worldwide international audiences are much higher. But here in the U.S., the numbers aren't there.
It's tough to sell advertising and merchandise with those numbers.
