PowerPoint is the presentation medium of choice among technologically savy sales reps. But there's good ways to do it, and then there are bad ways (some of the bad ways are chronicled at www.ReallyBadPowerPoint.com).
Two tips I wanted to pass along to you, just in case you're using PowerPoint to make sales:
- Remove unnecessary words and pictures from your PowerPoint slides. It's tempting to pack in as much as you can when creating your presentation, but try to cut back. Studies show that you can increase your audience's ability to remember what you talked about by a whopping 189% when you pare back your slides!
- Don't "read" your slides. Nothing will make your audience want to poke you in the eye with a sharp pencil more than a PowerPoint slide packed full of words, and then you reading those words to them. First, your audience can read...don't insult them by reading what's right in front of them. Second, go back up to point number one...are there too many words on your slide? If so, get rid of them.
PowerPoint is a tool. So is a nail gun. Both can kill or injure you.
