First in a series:
On the heels of our wildly popular interviews with best selling author Jeffrey Gitomer, we move on to a concept that's gained widespread popularity in the sales and marketing world: "Buzz marketing".
One of our favorite experts on the subject is Ron McDaniel from
Buzzoodle, a buzz marketing firm based in Ohio. This is the first in a series of interviews we're doing with Ron here on LandingTheDeal's
"Interview Week", and we're dealing with the subject of how "buzz marketing" can impact your sales efforts.
Our first question for Ron:
How can the average local sales professional create "buzz" for themselves in their market?
"There are so many different ways, Dan.
Getting to know people in the media and being helpful to them. Getting outside of their comfort zone and finding new ways to meet new people.
Using the web, even for local credibility. Publishing useful information can lead to mentions in the paper and other media.
Setting goals and creating a little bit of buzz every single day is the most important aspect. Make it a discipline and habit. Keep a diary of buzz you create. Let your fans know how they can help you create some buzz."
Thanks, Ron. Great insights. For local sales professionals, pay attention to some of Ron's tips...especially the part about publishing useful information and the advice on getting to know people in the local media (it can lead to free advertising!).
