You know what? It's amazing to me how conscious I am of how every aspect of business I interact with are treating me. Seth brings up the subject today on his blog.
The point I made earlier in the week holds true: Everyone, in every part of your organization, is selling. Whether they like it or not, or want to or not.
Today, if you go somewhere for lunch, think about all of the ways the establishment and their employees are selling to you. And, notice where they drop the ball. Note how you make little mental notes along the way as their customer: Was the waiter or cashier friendly? Was the food presented well? Were the bathrooms clean? If you're in the restaurant business, that's how you sell yourself to your customers. And, its how you convince them to come back.
Large business or small, whether you're a restaurant or an airline or Dell Computers, your audience is looking for reasons to continue being your customer. Are you giving them what they're looking for at every level?

That's right, Dan. We're always selling..we're always customers...and we're always serving somebody!
