We're on a little weekend getaway as I write this, enjoying time in our favorite place on earth...Morro Bay, California.
I went to catch a movie while the girls in our family trolled the shops. Morro Bay has a great single-screen movie theatre. I went to see "The Sentinel" starring Michael Douglas.
This theatre is unique:
- It's not affilliated with a large chain. It' family owned.
- The theatre owner, a woman in her early 60's, sells the tickets. She smiled and chatted with each person coming in.
- Tickets cost $6 (much less than the big chains).
- A bottled water and some Red Vines cost me $3 (much less than the big chains).
- The theatre seats reclined a little, and the arms were padded (much more comfortable than the big chains).
- No sticky floors, no weird smells (unlike the big chains).
Seth Godin talks about "small" being the next "big". I think that this type of theatre is what he's talking about.
Two thumbs up for the great little Bay Theatre in Morro Bay...stop by if you get the chance.
