I was on a business trip this weekend. The flight attendant on my trip to Nashville had the chance to sell me on her airline through her actions. She didn't. The front desk worker at the hotel had a chance to sell me on her hotel by her actions. She didn't. The business manager had a chance to sell me on having future meetings at their hotel by her actions. She didn't.
Everyone, in every way, was ordinary. They didn't sell themselves to me. True, they didn't necessarily drive me away through their actions, but in this day and age that isn't good enough. There are too many choices. That means that everyone in your office or business needs to be selling...all the time.
Let me re-phrase that: Everyone in your office or business is selling all the time. The real question is: How well are they selling?
P.S. The danger of not realizing that everyone in your organization has "selling" responsibilities? This. You never know when one of your unimpressed (or, in this case, upset) customers has a blog...
