I stopped at Walmart for a kitchen item for my wife today. And no, that's not me in the picture.
I was in the area, and it was another case of not being able to find what I was look for in at my locally owned, small, quaint hardware store down the street that I'm told I am required to shop at first so that all of our jobs stay in the U.S.A. and we don't implode as a nation. However, the 300 pound lazy guy at the counter did nothing more than point at an approximate area of his store that he "thought" the item "might" be, so I high-tailed it to the evil Walmart mega-store...
I arrived at the Walmart.
I walked in, where I was promptly greeted by a kindly older gentleman who said, "Hello, welcome to Walmart" (How could he be smiling? I thought he was miserable, underpaid and exploited?)
I soon walked by a display for two movies I knew my young daughters have been wanting to see. I put them in my basket.
I started searching for the kitchen item I needed...I was looking around in one section, when another Walmart employee came up and asked me if I needed any help. I told her I did, told her what I was looking for, and was lead to the next aisle over to where my item was located. I thanked her, and made a mental note to myself that most stores' clerks only respond to you after you've hunted them down in the break room.
I walked by some lightbulbs. I remembered two lamps in my office were burned out, so I bought a pack.
Then, I walked by a magazine rack where the latest issue of Entrepreneur magazine was displayed. One of the companies I am partners in, Gotcha Mobile Media, has a short blurb in this April's issue (I'm quoted in the magazine, so make sure you pick up a copy...and, if you're interested in a great franchise business opportunity, click here). I picked up a copy.
I came in for a $5 kitchen item, and left with $53.44 in purchases.

» Why I Love Walmart, Part II: "Acting Small" from LandingTheDeal
So, here's the conclusion to my thoughts that I started in Part I of this diatribe... I love Walmart because I've never not been able to find what I'm looking for. It saves time. I'd rather find everything I bought... [Read More]
