My thought: If you're a sales professional or small business owner doing your own selling, why not take the "product placement" concept and adapt it to your own local territory?...
...Let's say you sell carpeting. What if you went to a high traffic store in your area and offer to carpet their showroom for free in exchange for placing your info in a few key places around their showroom for their customers to see?
Let's say you are a custom car products salesperson. What if you offered to outfit a demo car model in a showroom at no cost for the chance to advertise to their customers?
Those are just two quick examples of how you can use the "product placement" concept and apply it to your local area. You can come up with better ideas than I just did, because you know your product or service better than I do.
Think creatively. Product placement isn't reserved for sitcoms only.
