
That's what the salesperson said to me today. He was a nice enough guy, and I was going to buy what he offered, but here's what he said to me in the middle of our discussion:
"If I close you today, I'll be on target for my goals for the month,
which I'm excited about."
"Did he actually just say that?" I thought to myself?
Like I said at the start, I was buying no matter what so it didn't matter in the long run. But I thought the phrase was odd and out of place. The sales lesson: You need to be sensitive to the language you use when you're on a sales call. Your customers are listening carefully to what you have to say, and just one little slip-up can spell disaster.
