
Seth Godin's quick observations about his trip to Mexico City struck a chord when he noted that all of the ads he saw featured blonde models.
There's a psychology behind all this, of course, and since I'm not a psychologist (and don't pretend to be) I'll pass on trying to peel back the layers of this practice.
But there's a lesson in Seth's observation for sales professionals: Image matters. And, as Seth outlines in his book "All Marketers Are Liars", what people really want to buy is the story behind the product. They want the story. They WANT the story. They want it in Mexico City, and they want it in Kansas City.
So, my question that I've asked before to you: What's YOUR story? It's not price. It's not features. It's the story.
Create a compelling story, and you'll create a compelling reason for people to buy from you.
