In the coming weeks and months, we'll engage in a debate here at "Landing the Deal" on the merits (or lack thereof) of cold calling.
Some say its dead. Others still rely on it to build their business.
Here's a great story about an inexperienced mom who started a small candy business in Georgia, and used cold calling to build up a business that has expanded locally and nationally.
So, it looks like cold calling still works...what do you think?

Cold calls work today and people generally do not like making them. I have done it and although am not afraid of it, hve always relied on it for the first 6-9 months of any new job or business endeavor. After that you usually build up warmer realtionships, better prospects and referrals and cold calls drop to about only 20% of your business.
