Hey, sales pro. What have you done to sell yourself lately to your customers? How about to prospective employers?
Probably not as much as a recent college grad from Oklahoma State University. Marketing guru Seth Godin highlights his creative approach to getting a job, and getting noticed. I think its great...thanks, Seth, for letting everyone in on it.
"Whop-de-doo, Dan," you're saying, "so a college kid put together a website begging for a job." OK, you can look at it that way.
Here's how I look at it:
- He's selling himself as a brand.
- It's better than a boring resume (but if you want his resume, there's a link to print it out).
- He shows you the work that he's capable of.
- Seth Godin, who writes a popular, highly viewed blog is talking about him and exposing him to thousands of potential employers.
- I'm talking about him, exposing him to at least seven or eight potential employers (a little self-depricating humor there).
- You're going to click on his link and find out about him.
Not bad for an unemployed college kid.
So, tell me again what you've done today to sell yourself to prospects, customers and future employers?
