Today is the last day of the month. For 80% of sales representatives, its a day of panic. For 80% of sales managers, its a day of panic. The same holds true for division VPs, CEOs, and business owners. It's a tense day (just like every day that falls at the end of a month) in offices around the country.
Tomorrow, it will be totally different in those same offices. More relaxed, happier faces, not the same nervous energy.
That never made sense to me. I was always in the reverse frame of mind when it was the first day of a new sales month: "I need to work my rear end off here at the start so that I'm not panicking at the end!" I hated waiting until the end of the month to worry about meeting a quota. So do a lot of salespeople. The difference is action.
It kind of goes back to my earlier post today about "easy" vs. "certain" buttons. Which would you rather press? Think about it...otherwise, this is the button you'll be pressing every last day of the month for the rest of your life....
