Tonight, the movie "Jerry McGuire" is on TBS. I've seen it about 274 times...each time, I enjoy it.
Jerry is a sports agent. Which means, of course, that Jerry is a salesman.
The sales lessons I am reminded of every time I watch it:
- You don't get the sale until the contract is signed (if a customer tells you that "their word is as strong as oak" then kiss your sale goodbye).
- Passion counts.
- Your goal in working with your customers: "Help me help you." That's powerful.
- Customer service is everything.
- So is a personal relationship with your customer, whenever that's possible.
- A door gets slammed in your face? Find another door...they're all over the place.
- Your personal life matters. It keeps you happy and balanced.

The lesson that I always take from this is that you have to remind the potential customer that seeing results means getting involved beyond taking about working together and moving towards actually working on a project.
