My previous post was all about a very good, very likeable salesman at a home expo show I just attended.
But there were also a lot of really, really, really bad salespeople on display today.
What made them so darn horrible?....
- They didn't make eye contact.
- One booth representative was sitting back in the corner reading a newspaper!
- Quite a few were frowning and looking like they'd rather be getting a double root canal done than standing at their booth.
- Some would just nod their head at you instead of say "hello" and engage a potential customer.
- Most never asked for the sale.
- Most never asked me my name.
- Only one gave me their card and a discount offer if we called them within one week to schedule an estimate for their service.
- Most weren't actively displaying their products.
These salespeople and business owners paid between $1000 and $4000 to have space at this show. Most were totally wasting the opportunity they'd been given to engage themselves with new customers.
